It’s the most wonderful time of the year….between getting out my holiday decorations to a pumpkin chai, I’m getting in the holiday spirit. Especially as we’ve got a fresh group getting set for Freshly Implemented 2016.

I’m sure you know exactly how I’m feeling right now, and you’ve had those majorly busy times of year in your business over the past year. But what happens when it’s all go, go, go and there’s no chill time built into the holidays?

That, my friend, is a recipe for you to start the new year feeling depleted. It’s hard to jump in come January 1st with your whole mind and heart ready to rock when you’re burnt out from the past year.

I get how easy it is to use the holidays to dig into big projects, get ahead of the game and more…Especially if you’re like me and you truly love what you do! But, not turning it off for a few days is a sign that you may be working too hard.

If I’ve learned one thing over the past three years, it is that working harder is not the route to getting results. That hustling harder isn’t the way to get to where you want to go. It’s all about working smarter, not harder, all year long so you’re not burning the candle at both ends 24/7/365.

But that’s enough of the serious stuff. Time to lighten this up a bit and help you figure out if you’re working too much and what you can do about it for the new year!

You’ve got an extra few hours on a Sunday. Do you:

A.  Curl up with a good book or do something just for you?
B.  Take a bit of time to do a bit of planning and then get outside and go for a run?
C.  Dive quickly into a work project and end up working the full day because you’re on a roll?

A dream client is knocking at your virtual door on December 15th. Do you:

A.  Let them know that you’re ramping down for the holidays and you’d be happy to speak with them on January 4th?
B.  Offer to speak with them now but let them know you can’t start work until the new year.
C.  Jump on the phone and agree to work over the holidays to meet their tight deadline.

One of your launches last month didn’t go as planned. Do you:

A.  Decide that there are lessons in what you learned and improve for next time.
B.  Try to push a bit harder, but realize you may need to plan better or rethink your offer.
C.  Extend your cart open period until you get what you want no matter what.

You’ve got a little bit of extra money in your business. Do you:

A.  Decide that you need to enjoy your profit and take it as a draw for personal use.
B.  Opt to withdraw a little extra to treat yourself and then save the rest for a rainy day.
C.  Immediately spend it on a course or coach to help you get ahead faster.

You notice you’re working 7 days a week and you don’t seem to be moving your business ahead any faster. Do you:

A.  Start tracking your time to figure out what’s going on and where you’re wasting time, then promptly schedule regular time off.
B.  Keep an eye on things and maybe take a Sunday off.
C.  Decide you’re all in and this is the cost of success.

Now, tally up your As, Bs and Cs, to find out if you’re naughty, nice or somewhere in between!

If you got mostly As, you’re nice.

You’re rockin’ this being nice thing, which you know I absolutely love! You’ve managed to figure out the elusive balancing act of entrepreneurship where you work and get to enjoy your life outside of work too. Keep on with the nice in 2016 and check out the this free training from my friend Todd if you want to maintain the nice balance as your business grows.

If you got mostly Bs, you’re nice and naughty.

It’s complicated. You’re nice sometimes, and naughty others, sort of like the salty/sweet combo of salted caramel. Going into 2016, watch for your tendency to add a little too much naughty at times and try to take care of yourself as much as you can to boost your very nice status.  This training from my friend Todd might help you keep all things business under control.

If you got mostly Cs, you’re naughty

Guaranteed, this is where most people doing this quiz fall, so don’t worry about being naughty. You’re in good company.  I find myself here from time to time too.  It’s normal.  Thinking back over your year, look at why you tend to be naughty and how you can get the same results without driving yourself into the ground. Schedule time to be nice!  And check out Todd’s training if you don’t have a clue where to go from there.

Get ready to start a year that will be nice in so many ways. I’m planning more nice content and more nice surprises to help you build a business in the nice zone for 2016. Stay tuned!
